Job Description:

Founded in 2015, Milestone is seeking a senior accountant to join the growing team! In this role, you will utilize hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, the senior accountant will ensure that the daily operations of his/her department is running smoothly while providing advice and guidance to Management regarding the financial situation of the College.


  • Be the first point of contact regarding all aspect of the accounting and financial situation of the College
  • Supervise and prepare accounting and financial documents such as forecast report of monthly target, business reports, tuition payments, financial statements to understand the financial state of the business
  • Effectively manage all daily operations of financial transactions
  • Analyse and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensure timely and accurate payments of invoices for suppliers and consultants
  • Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Review accounting records and various reports to ensure accuracy of transactions
  • Lead yearly financial audit process and documentations by collaborating with external auditor
  • Accurately and timely complete all files related to tax returns – RL1, T4, T4A, T2202 etc.
  • Report and advise management on the company’s financial health to maximize business opportunities
  • Responsible for the implementation and migration of all financial data into accounting software COBA
  • Supervise employees under his responsibilities including training and on-boarding
  • Ensure the company’s compliance with financial policies and regulations
  • Comply and stay up to date with provincial and federal payroll regulations
  • Advise and implement accounting policies and procedures to ameliorate operational effectiveness
  • Reinforce and ensure financial data confidentiality
  • Collaborate with all other departments
  • Any other tasks delegate by the supervisor


  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or any other related programs
  • Obtained a certification or designation in the field for instance, CPA
  • Have at least 10 years of experience in the field with 2 years of experience in management
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • Experience in an educational environment is considered as an asset
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs
